Part of feeling at home is knowing what to expect before you arrive. The Bond Store is a self-contained waterfront stay in a restored 1859 stone building, with self-check-in and help always close by.

Here are the questions guests most often ask. If there is anything else you would like to know, please call us on 1800 222 397. We would much rather answer a question before you book than have you arrive to something that does not suit.

Arriving and checking in

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is by 11am.
Early check-in or late check-out may sometimes be possible, depending on the guests arriving before or after you. Please contact us in advance and we will let you know what we
can arrange.

There is no reception desk at the Bond Store. Both apartments have self-check-in, so you can go directly to the property when you arrive.
We will send your keycode and arrival information the day before your stay. We are only moments away and are available by phone at any time if you need help.

Yes. Parking is available directly in front of the Bond Store.

There is one step down from the car park to the entrance pathway. The pathway is lit at night, and entry into both apartments is level once you have reached the building.

The apartments

How many apartments are there?

There are two separate apartments:
Bond Store One has one upstairs bedroom with a king bed and accommodates two guests.

Bond Store Two has two upstairs bedrooms, each with a king bed and its own bathroom, and accommodates four guests.

Together, the two apartments can accommodate up to six guests.

Yes, subject to availability. Booking both apartments works well for families or friends travelling together who would still like their own kitchen, living area and private space.

The two apartments share the central courtyard and sauna.

The sauna and courtyard

Does the Bond Store have a sauna?

Yes. A two-person cedar sauna is in the courtyard shared by the two Bond Store apartments.

Please allow approximately 30 minutes for the sauna to preheat. A cold outdoor shower is positioned beside it, and fluffy robes and slippers are provided in your apartment.

The central courtyard and sauna are shared by guests staying in Bond Store One and Bond Store Two.

Each apartment also has its own outdoor seating area.

Children and bedding

Can children stay at the Bond Store?

Yes, provided your children can use the existing bedding.

Bond Store One has one king bed. Bond Store Two has two king beds. The king beds cannot be separated into single beds.

A cot can be provided free of charge with advance notice. We do not provide or permit
rollaway beds.

Please remember that all bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs when deciding whether the building will suit your family.

Accessibility

Is the Bond Store wheelchair accessible?

No. The Bond Store is a heritage-listed stone building constructed in 1859. Its bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs, and there is no lift or bedroom or bathroom on the ground floor.

There is accessible parking beside the building, followed by one step down from the car park. Entry into the apartments is then level, and the kitchens and living areas are on the ground floor.

Please read our [Accessibility at the Bond Store] page before booking or call us on 1800 222 397 so we can talk through your requirements.

Yes. BayVilla One is our fully wheelchair-accessible one-bedroom apartment on the same Stanley waterfront as the Bond Store.

It has ground-floor accommodation, a fully accessible bathroom and accessible parking close to the entrance. BayVilla One is a modern apartment rather than a heritage apartment, but the waterfront location, outlook and service are the same.

Enquiries, booking confirmations and arrival instructions are all provided in writing.

Self-check-in means there is no reception desk or spoken check-in process to manage, and we are happy to communicate entirely by email or message before and throughout your
stay.

Both apartments have level entry after the step down from the car park, open living areas and consistent lighting that we set before you arrive. Bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs.

The stairs have rails.

Please contact us before your arrival if it would help to have something arranged differently or if you would like us to explain the apartment layout.

Animals

Is the Bond Store pet friendly?

Assistance animals are welcome at the Bond Store at no additional charge.

We require evidence at the time of booking that the animal is an assistance animal under section 9(2) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth). This means the animal must be
accredited under a State or Territory law, accredited by a prescribed training organisation, or trained to alleviate the effect of a disability while meeting the standards of hygiene and
behaviour appropriate for a public place.

Telling us when you book also allows us to prepare and explain what to expect from the working waterfront and the little penguins that come ashore nearby after dark.

We do not otherwise accept animals.

Exploring Stanley

What is there to see nearby?

Within Stanley, you can explore:

  • The Nut and its chairlift and walking track
  • Stanley’s beaches and working harbour
  • Godfreys Beach and the little penguin viewing area
  • Highfield Historic Site
  • Local galleries, shops, cafés and restaurants
  • Stanley’s historic streetscape

A little farther afield, guests often visit:

  • The Tarkine Drive
  • Dip Falls
  • Trowutta Arch
  • Blue Hills Honey
  • Arthur River and the Edge of the World
  • Marrawah and the west-coast beaches
  • Rocky Cape National Park

Most of Stanley’s shops, cafés, restaurants, galleries and waterfront attractions are within a short walk of the Bond Store, so you generally will not need your car while exploring the
township.

A car is useful for visiting Highfield Historic Site and the wider north-west coast.

Little penguins

When can we see the penguins?

Little penguins may come ashore around Stanley after dark. Numbers are generally highest from October to April, although penguins can be present throughout the year.

They are wild, so seeing a penguin can never be guaranteed, nor can we guarantee the time at which one may appear. During summer, penguins may come ashore from dark through to
around midnight, before returning to sea in the early morning.

Penguins are sensitive to bright light, sudden movement and noise.

Please:

  • Do not use flash photography
  • Avoid shining bright lights towards them
  • Remain still and quiet
  • Never touch or attempt to handle a penguin
  • Give them room to move between the water and their burrows

If you remain quiet, you may be fortunate enough to watch them pass very close by.

Bookings and cancellations

What is the cancellation policy?

Guests may cancel without charge until 14 days before arrival. Cancellations made within 14 days of arrival will be charged the total price of the reservation.

The cancellation conditions shown on your booking confirmation will always apply to your reservation.

Full payment will be processed the day before arrival and before your keycode and check-in information are sent.

Electric vehicle charging

Can I charge an electric vehicle at the Bond Store?

Yes. Two dedicated outdoor power outlets are available for overnight electric vehicle charging.

These are standard power outlets rather than fast chargers. Guests must bring their own compatible portable charging cable.

Please remember that charging speed will depend on your vehicle, cable and portable charging equipment.

Smoking, damage and additional cleaning

Is smoking permitted?

The Bond Store is strictly non-smoking inside both apartments.

Outdoor seating is available for guests who smoke. If smoking occurs inside an apartment, an additional cleaning fee of up to $250 may be charged.

We ask guests to treat the Bond Store, its heritage fabric and everything inside it with care.

An additional fee of up to $250 may be charged when an apartment requires significant cleaning beyond what would normally be expected after a stay.

Guests may also be responsible for the repair or replacement cost of damaged or missing property. The Bond Store Stanley reserves the right to pursue recovery of costs relating to theft or serious damage.
