Accessibility at the Bond Store
We want every guest to feel welcome, and to know exactly what to expect before they book.
The Bond Store is a stone building constructed in 1859. Its heritage listing means we cannot alter its structure, so it is not wheelchair accessible. Rather than leave that unsaid, we set it out plainly below – and we have a fully wheelchair-accessible apartment on the same waterfront for guests who need one.
If anything, here is unclear, or you would like to talk through your needs before booking, please call or email us. We would much rather have that conversation early than have you arrive to something that doesn’t suit.
If you use a wheelchair or cannot manage stairs
BayVilla One is our fully wheelchair-accessible apartment, on the same Stanley waterfront as the Bond Store, with the same outlook across the harbour. We renovated it specifically so that guests who cannot use the Bond Store can still stay here.
BayVilla One includes:
- Ground-floor accommodation with no internal stairs
- A fully accessible bathroom
- Accessible parking close to the entrance
BayVilla One is a modern apartment rather than a heritage property, but you’ll still enjoy the same waterfront location, outlook and level of service.

If you are deaf or hard of hearing
- Enquiries, confirmations and arrival instructions are all provided in writing
- Self-check-in means there is no reception desk to negotiate on arrival
- We are happy to communicate entirely by email or message throughout your stay
If you have low vision
Both apartments have level entry, open living areas and consistent lighting we set before you arrive. Bedrooms and bathrooms are upstairs.
Please tell us before you arrive if it would help to have anything arranged differently, or if you would like us to walk you through the layout.
Assistance animals
Assistance animals are welcome at the Bond Store, at no additional charge.
We require evidence at the time of booking that your animal is an assistance animal under section 9(2) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) – that is, accredited under a State or Territory law, accredited by a prescribed training organisation, or trained to alleviate the effect of a disability and meeting standards of hygiene and behaviour appropriate for a public place.
Telling us at the time of booking also lets us prepare and let you know what to expect from the working waterfront and the little penguins that come ashore nearby after dark.
We do not otherwise accept animals.
Dietary and medical needs
We ask about dietary requirements before you arrive and adjust the Tasmanian provisions we leave for you. Both apartments have full kitchens, so you can cater entirely for yourself if that is easier.
If you need power or refrigeration for medical equipment or medication, both apartments have it.
Our website
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, and we review the site regularly. Some booking and mapping tools on this site are supplied by other companies, and we cannot control their accessibility, though we encourage them to meet the same standards.
If any part of this website is difficult to use, please tell us and we will send you the information another way.
